Blues Rock Hard Rock Heavy Metal Bass Songwriter Colborne, ON

My name is Pat Hannigan, and I'm a songwriter and bassist from Colborne, Ontario, Canada. My music is rooted in blues rock, hard rock, and heavy metal. I've been writing poetry and song lyrics since I was a teenager, and music has always been a driving force in my life.

My musical journey began in 1989 as the bass player for an '80s heavy metal band called JFK. We performed covers by bands such as Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Poison, and Salty Dog. While we didn't play the bar circuit, we focused on fundraising events and opening for larger local acts. As much as I enjoyed playing cover songs, I eventually realized I wanted to grow as a musician and learn how to transform my own lyrics into original music.

In the fall of 2018, I began taking bass lessons with Port Hope musician and producer Mike Woods. Under Mike's guidance, I learned not only to develop my skills as a bassist but also how to bring my songwriting ideas to life. His mentorship, friendship, and creative insight helped turn a lifelong dream into reality.

As I continued developing my original material, I worked to stay true to the musical styles that inspired me while writing songs that reflect my own experiences and perspectives. Many of my songs explore personal, social, and cultural themes, while others venture into fictional storytelling. I've always believed that rock and roll can tackle serious subjects while still being entertaining and fun.

In July 2026, I will release my debut album, Songs From The Metal Man. This six-song recording features my good friends Stacy Doherty on vocals and Mike Woods on guitar. I am incredibly proud of this project and believe it represents my strongest work to date.
